Membership
Our studio spaces, kilns and gallery are located at 9 Candys Rd in Halswell and have been serving the local and pottery community since 1972. The use of our historic club rooms is made possible by the Wayne Francis Trust.
Anyone can apply to be a member, but pottery is a difficult skill to master, so if you do not have any pottery experience, you are expected to sign up for a class, either at through the Group or elsewhere within the first 6 months.
All applications must have a proposer who is a current member of the group. This can be a tutor if you are already taking classes with us, or someone else in the group who can recommend you.
The committee reviews completed applications within four to six weeks, and if approved, you will receive a welcome email with instructions on how to complete your induction and pay the membership fee. Your membership is not active until you pay the fee.
The annual membership fee is $105 and is due by 31 July each year.
Benefits
Club days and evenings
We gather every Monday during the day and in the evening to share our passion for pottery and ceramic arts, as well as a few laughs.
On the first Monday evening of the month, we usually also hold demonstrations or discussions on special topics - suggested by the members.
Special firings and workshops
We hold several group firings a year: Wood kiln / Gas kiln / Raku firings / Pit firings / Barrel firings.
There are also a range of different demonstrations and workshops organized throughout the year.
Studio space
The cottage has both hand building and wheel throwing studios, with a range of equipment.
During their first 3 months, members can access the studio spaces and equipment during Monday Club sessions and when the Gallery is open on the weekends (11am - 3pm).
After 3 months, members receive the door code and have access to the cottage at all times, except when classes or workshops are in progress.
Exhibit and sell your work
Each year the group holds a public exhibit of members' work, a sale at the Barrington Mall, a Christmas Market, and members also have an opportunity to sell through our gallery, which is open on weekends.
